Earth Hour

Posted by asimonette33 in Uncategorized

Earth Hour, occurring every year, is a time when we give the world a break and try to use no electricity during an hour of your day.  It occurred on Saturday, March 27, beginning at 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.  Giving an hour of your time to sit in the darkness will make the world that much different.  Visit http://myearthhour.org to find out more about what you can do to help this world.

This is Earth Hour taking place in Sydney, Australia. You can the huge difference that it makes.

During Earth Hour, my family and I turned off all the lights in our house and sat and talked with each other at a candle-lit table.  We sat there for the whole hour and felt compelled to further our assistance with helping our environment.  My family decided to do this Earth Hour more than once a year, and help with as much as we can.
At my school, the lights are turned off in the hallway during each period.  The cafeteria trays are easily washed, which prevents us from throwing away unnessecary things.  There are many other ways our school is helping the environment, but these are just a specific couple that my school contributes.
I do worry about how the environment is changing.  As a student, I can provide many participants from school to help out with the environment by contributing to something as little as Earth Hour.  It is important to advertise  the events, and if there is enough advertisement, then i’m sure that many other students would join me in such a wonderful cause.

My Area

Posted by asimonette33 in Uncategorized

My area is quite boring, to be honest.  But I like where I live because I experience all of the four different seasons.  Though there aren’t many different places to go, there are many different little sites in town that are bound to give you a fun time.  Little food places such as Julians, Artist’s Cup Cafe, and Mickey’s give you great food range, and they all taste fantastic.  If visiting my area, these places are definitly places you will want to go to.

This is a great area to raise your children because it gives you a place for your kids to roam around town, and not be worried about the strangers also in town.

This building used to be the old fire station, but is now a great spot to catch some lunch or dinner!

Superman!

Posted by asimonette33 in Uncategorized

Now you may think that I am a weird-o nerd for loving Superman so much, but I am obsessed with all things Superman.  I have all of the Superman movies, with Christopher Reeve, and the newest Superman movie, Superman Returns.  Smallville, a TV show, is about the life before Clark Kent knows what his destiny  is.  I have all seasons of Smallville and watch it every week with dedication.  I love to watch Superman movies and Smallville because I love to see someone actually being a hero in this world and saving all of those who are in trouble, and just because Superman has sweet abilities.  I pretty much know a lot about Superman, though I don’t know it all, which I learned from my dad, who used to watch every episode and movie with me.  I love Superman and I will always watch the movies and Smallville!

Netiquette

Posted by asimonette33 in Uncategorized

When talking to people online, it is important to think about what you are saying.  Properly speaking online is called netiquette.

There are many things that you should not do while typing a blog, e-mail, or a newsgroup.  The first thing that you should not do is type in ALL CAPS.  It is hard for the reader to read the text and it makes it seem like you are screaming at the person.  Another thing to not do is spam or flame a page with unnecessary or rude comments.  It is always best to leave a comment that is polite and the write can take your comment into consideration.  Do not use too many exclamation points either, this will show your readers that you are immature and are not professional.

It is a good idea to keep your blogs short and focused.  This will help the reader understand what it is that your blog is talking about.  Using abbreviations can help with shortening your blog or e-mail.  Using emoticons can help put humor and tone to what it is you are trying to say.  It is simple to use emoticons because they are only symbols put together, like =].  Simple and it can show your audience that you are happy without overpowering it.

FAQ stands for frequently asked questions.  These are important in a website because if a customer has a question about the site and needs it answered as soon as possible, the customer can go to the page with the FAQs and find the question that they have.  This helps the website move smoother and quicker than other websites that do not have a FAQs page.

Hello world, again!

I am a newcomer here to edublogs and I have got to say, it is just dandy.  I hope everybody likes my theme because it took a lot of consideration in picking that specific one.

I am a very unique individual and I like the way I am.  I will probably express how I act in person, in the way I write my blogs.  So I hope you enjoy!
